The Team
Stephen Ceurvorst
Founder & CEO
Mr. Ceurvorst held various senior positions with predecessor banks of Bank of New York Mellon, Bank of America, and JP Morgan Chase. He has served as CEO of a full-service broker-dealer, created and lead a commercial loan portfolio management group, and led loan syndications and securitization groups. Mr. Ceurvorst has served on a variety of industry and nonprofit boards, including the ABA Securities Association, NYS Arts, Credit Agricole LMA S.A. (Paris abcp conduit), Japan-America Society of Pennsylvania, and the Worshipful Company of International Bankers (London).
He earned his bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and his master’s degree from Columbia University
Joseph Lau, CFA
President
Immediately prior to joining LordCap, Mr. Lau worked as a Managing Director and Head of Term Non-Traditional ABS at RBC Capital Markets, including the European practice. Previously he was at Deutsche Bank, responsible for the Credit Solution Group’s lending book and significant capital markets businesses. He also served with Barclays Capital and JPMorgan. Mr. Lau is chairman of the Fixed Income Investor Network, including over 200 institutions.
He received his M.B.A. from Oxford University and a B.S. in Finance and Economics from St. Joseph’s University; he also holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Rajat Basu
Managing Director
Previously, Mr. Basu established Mizuho Bank’s MAI Recovery Fund, served as Chief Credit Officer for International and Structured Finance at Financial Guaranty Insurance Corporation, and also served at MBIA, Citibank, and American Express.
Mr. Basu has an undergraduate degree in Physics from Delhi University in India and graduate degrees in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Columbia University.
Jessica Collins
Head of Operations
Jessica Collins is Head of Operations at Lord Capital.
In her role at Lord Capital, Ms. Collins leads the efficient daily operations of the firm, and as such, drives the implementation and execution of effective policies and procedures, and oversees the communication and organization of strategic processes.
Ms. Collins is responsible for assisting executive management in decision making and ensuring the day-to-day operations reflect the goals and standards of the firm.
Ms. Collins obtained a bachelor’s degree from The New School.
